Gynecologic Pathology

Gynecology pathology is an essential component of pathology service at UC Irvine Medical Center. It provides the gross and microscopic examination of surgical specimens of female reproductive organs that are fundamental in prevention and treatment of women's disease. Our expert pathologists provide diagnosis on complex gynecologic specimen and intra-operative consultations to our surgeons. Our consultation service provides second diagnostic opinion and expertise to pathologists of community.

Services are available in the following areas:

• Consultation services for problematic and unusual case specimens, pre-operative review before major surgery
• Immunohistochemistry
• Rapid diagnosis of biopsy specimens
• Tumor grade and staging
• Frozen section diagnosis
• Molecular studies for malignancies
